Five years ago, I found myself sitting in a wheelchair, being wheeled down a cold, sterile, fluorescent-lit hospital hallway on the way to receive testing for undiagnosed pain in my body. I was scared and as we turned the corner into another maze-like corridor, I sensed the Lord speaking to me in a still, quiet voice – not audible, but one that reverberated in my heart nonetheless. “You know this is why I came. To heal the sick: the sick of body. The sick of soul.”
And there it was. In that hospital hallway, tears started streaming down my face. Not because of pain or fear, but because I knew he had come… for me, in that moment.
Here at Christmastime, I can’t help but focus on our Emmanuel—God with us—and the assurance I have knowing he came in the flesh to be relatable to us all. In time, he did heal me. So be encouraged that he also sees and wants to heal all those sick places in your body and soul, too.
He came for you.
He indeed is for us all.
